Setup Guide
1. Simple Unit Assembly
Assembling your Scott Aerator Fountain is quick and easy, typically taking only 15-20 minutes. Detailed instructions are included. Your fountain kit contains:
- High-quality pump with cylindrical housing and pre-attached power cord
- Durable square float platform
- Protective stainless steel filter screen
- Your chosen decorative nozzle(s) (except for the DA-20 model)
- All necessary 5/16"x2" stainless steel bolts
- Stainless steel nuts & washers
- Self-tapping stainless steel screws
Tools You'll Need: A wrench (or socket driver) and pliers.
Easy Assembly Steps:
- Place the fountain housing on a stable surface with the pump outlet facing upwards.
- Attach your nylon rope (not included) to the two stainless steel eyebolts provided for anchoring.
- Position the float onto the housing and secure it firmly using the provided bolts, washers, and nuts.
- Invert the assembled fountain, remove the Styrofoam ring, and install the protective stainless steel filter. Align the pre-drilled holes on the housing with the marks on the filter. Secure the filter using the included self-tapping screws.
2. Attaching Your Light Kit (Skip if no lights were ordered)
Adding Scott Aerator fountain light kits is simple! They easily attach to the square float platform. Your light kit includes:
- (2) or (4) high-quality LED light fixtures with power cable
- Necessary 1/2" bolts & nuts
- (2) or (4) durable stainless steel arm brackets
- Dedicated Timer/control unit for the lights
- Remote control (included only with color-changing light kits)
Tools You'll Need: Wrench & Pliers
*Important Note: The included timer/control unit is essential for operating the lights and is part of the UL-listed system. Do not detach the cord from the control unit, as this will void the warranty.
Light Kit Assembly Steps:
- Attach each arm assembly to the water feature float, ensuring the “L” shaped bracket is facing upwards. Remove one of the 2" bolts holding the float to the water feature housing. Align the holes on the stainless steel arm with the bolt hole. Reinsert the bolt with a washer through the housing, float, and arm. Secure with a washer and nut. Repeat this process for all other arms.
- Attach each light fixture to the slotted end of the stainless steel arms. Insert a 1/2" x 1/4" bolt through each light bracket and arm, securing with a 1/4" nut. You can adjust the light position along the arm by loosening the lock nut, sliding the light to your desired spot, and retightening.
- Connect the lights to the Timer Control Unit. Align the pins carefully and screw the connector together only a half turn. Avoid over-tightening to prevent damage to the O-ring or wiring.
3. Effortless Deployment in Water
- Once your fountain is assembled, it's ready to be placed in the water for final positioning and anchoring.
- Handle the fountain with care; avoid resting its weight directly on the stainless steel filter.
- Once the fountain head is submerged, secure it by screwing it into place (this step is not applicable to the DA-20 model).
- Float the fountain to your desired location in the pond or lake. Secure it using the attached nylon ropes tied to the shore or by using two concrete blocks submerged at least 20 feet apart for stable anchoring.
- Finally, connect your fountain and lights (if applicable) to the power source. **Always use a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) for safety.** We strongly recommend consulting a licensed electrician for the final electrical connection.
Selection Guide
Choosing the Right Horsepower for Your Pond
- The horsepower of your fountain directly impacts the size and flow rate of the spray pattern. Higher horsepower means more water movement and a larger, more dramatic, or denser spray.
- Selecting the appropriate horsepower depends on your budget and the size of your pond or lake. A helpful guideline is to ensure there is at least 10 feet of clear water between the edge of the fountain spray and the pond's edge.
Choosing the Correct Voltage (115V or 230V)
- If you are unsure which voltage is right for you, please contact us for expert assistance.
- If you are using a 115V power supply, it's crucial to consider the maximum safe distance from the pump to the breaker, which includes the length of the power cord.
- For 230V systems, distance is generally not a limiting factor for performance.
Motor Size | Maximum Recommended Distance from Pump to Breaker on 115V |
1/3 HP 115V | 280' |
1/2 HP 115V | 250' |
3/4 HP 115V | 200' |
1 HP 115V | 150' |
Choosing Your LED Lights (Optional Enhancement)
- Add stunning illumination to your fountain! Light kits can be purchased with your fountain order or easily added later. Light sets securely attach to the float platform.
- Lights operate on standard 110V and come with their own dedicated power cord.
- Choose between elegant single-color warm white LED lights or dynamic color-changing LED lights to match your mood or event.
- Both lighting options include a programmable timer for automated operation. The color-changing lights also come with a convenient remote control effective up to 1,000 feet away.
- Two-light sets are recommended for 1 HP and smaller fountain models.
- Three-light sets are recommended for 1.5 HP and 2 HP fountain models.
- Four-light sets are recommended for 3 HP fountain models for maximum impact.
