Your Questions Answered: Common Questions

Q: How do I select the best fountain for my needs?
A: Consider your primary goal: aeration, stunning visual appeal, or both. For superior aeration or a combination, our Aerating Fountains are ideal due to their high flow rates. If aesthetics are key, explore our various display options, ensuring your pond meets minimum depth and the spray size complements your space.

Q: How do I determine the right horsepower?
A: Horsepower directly impacts the size of the captivating spray pattern. Verify your pond meets the minimum depth for your chosen horsepower and that the spray won't overflow the edges. For ponds a quarter acre or larger, base your decision on your desired visual impact and budget.

Q: Is professional installation required for my fountain?
A: If a power source isn't conveniently located near your pond, we recommend consulting a licensed electrician. Fountain installation is straightforward, and many customers successfully install their own to save costs. The fountain floats gracefully, anchored on two sides, and connects easily to your power source via a submersible cord.

Q: Should I choose 110-120V or 220-240V?
A: If your power source is more than 70 feet from the main breaker, opt for the 220-240V model to guarantee sufficient power delivery and consistent performance. Always confirm your power source can support the higher voltage.

Q: Are lights included with the fountain purchase?
A: While lights are not standard, they are a highly recommended option! Easily add them during your initial order or at a later time. They attach effortlessly to the floating unit, transforming your pond into a stunning nighttime feature.

Q: Why is the power cord priced as it is?
A: The cost reflects the high-quality materials used. Depending on the fountain model, the power cord is constructed from durable 14-gauge to 4-gauge copper or stainless steel wire, ensuring longevity and safety.

Q: Can I leave my fountain in the water during winter?
A: Absolutely! Scott Aerator Fountains are designed for year-round use, even in winter. They should either run continuously or be completely turned off during freezing temperatures. Simply turn them back on once the water thaws.
